summer dress

Hey, WO2 Shane here,

I would like to remind everyone that as of last Monday, April 12th, we are now in summer dress. For those of you who don't know, I will explain what that is. Neatly ironed blue shirt, with shoulder flashes, (for those of you who have them), blue pants, black belt, wedge, and polished boots. Your name tag should be pinned, centered above your right shirt pocket, and for those of us who have them, ribbons should be pinned, centered above the left shirt pocket. Please bring your tunics and ties, just in case. I did notice that several senior cadets did not have their shoulder flashes on their shirts last Monday. Remember you need to come prepared at all times.

Also, we are going to start checking your socks. The grey wool socks you were issued, are part of your uniform and as such, you are expected to wear them whenever you wear your uniform. For those of you who are unable to wear wool, (due to allergies, etc), you are required to wear black socks that are visible above your boots.

As WO2 Poten-Coyle mentioned previously, those of you who are eligible will be promoted from AC, (Air Cadet), to LAC, (Leading Air Cadet), next Monday. Congratulations on your hard work. He mentioned a couple of requirements for promotion, but there are many more that are equally if not more important. For example, attendance is a very important factor in the cadet program. Not just regular Monday nights, but mandatory activities like Rememberance Day, and Fam Flying/Gliding. Also there are the voluntary events such as survival days/weekends, tours, and community events. Many of these events give each of us who participate, the opportunity to go out into the community and let people see how proud we are to be Air Cadets. They also allow us the opportunity to become good citizens.

Other very important things to remember are that when greeting officers, always salute and address them either as "Sir", or "Ma'am", or by their rank followed by their surname. At the end of a conversation always salute before turning away. Also always salute when passing the flags. Learning and practicing drill and drill commands are also important requirements for promotions. Just a few things for you to think about.

See you next Monday,

WO2 Shane

  2. Obviously the cadet who left the previous comment was NOT paying attention on Monday evening, you were told to BRING your tunic and tie anyway just in case, which is EXACTLY what I said in my post. And by the way, I am to be be addressed as WO2 Shane, and not just Shane.

  3. Yes, in this instance, WO2 Shane is correct with this, every Cadet should be prepared for full uniform, and we will make the decision that night on if it will be summer dress or not. I will be looking into who made this reply, because of the lack of respect given.
