Yes, it’s (finally) that time of year again and the first
parade night of the 2015-2016 cadet year is upon us!
Returning Cadets
Returning cadets are to wear their full uniform to ensure
the correct fit after all the growth spurts that traditionally happen during
the summer months off / training camps etc. With school back in, make sure you
share your excitement and tell your friends how much you enjoy cadets,
especially how much you learned at summer training camp. Don’t forget to
encourage them to join 220 Red River, because we’re the best Air Cadet Squadron
in the city! (I think so anyway).
Joining Cadets
Bring your friends along, or come out yourself if you are
interested in joining. Let them know to bring their parent(s) along to help
fill out registration forms. While government issued identification is required,
it’s easy, just bring your birth certificate (or passport) and Manitoba Health
Care card.
Big Plans This Year
This is going to be an excellent year, and it’s already off
to a great start, after supporting the 17 Wing Fall Fair Saturday with our
squadron’s Dream Flyer (flight simulator) and participating cadets. This event
helps us inform newly posted in families about how well supported the cadet
(Air is best, of course) programs are here in Manitoba, especially at 220 Sqn!
This is a really big year, with many milestones being achieved, including the
75th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, the 75th Anniversary of the
Battle of Britain, and many more. Consequently, there are lots of activities
planned and the next few weeks are going to be especially busy.
Upcoming Events
- 14 Sept – 1st Parade Night at Minto
- 20 Sept – Parade for the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain
- 26 Sept – YWG: Your Winter Getaway Starts Here
- 27 Sept – Orienteering
- 10 Oct – Fall Gliding
- 10 Oct – Minto Armoury Open House
