To All interested Cadets:
Welcome to a new year of discovering your public voice through the 2016 Effective Speaking Competition! If you are interested in being the kind of speaker that’s fun and interesting to listen to, this is the place for you!
Participants will choose from these topics this year:
- The 75th Anniversary of Air Cadets
- The importance of Community Service and Citizenship Activities
- 100 Years of Women having the Right to Vote
- Dress Codes in Public Places
- The Importance of Work Ethics
- What do you see as Canada’s Futures?
- Why you should become an Organ Donor?
- My First Flight!
We will be meeting on six Sunday afternoon’s from 3:00-4:30 pm (1500-1730) to work together on speaking skills, writing our speeches and practicing. This is our schedule for the year:
01 Nov - How to not be boring when you write
15 Nov - How to not be boring when you speak
29 Nov -The art of the impromptu speach (practice)
03 Jan - Speech Practice (for those interested)
10 Jan - Last minute fixes/practice
All this will be the lead up to our squadron competition on Sunday, 24 January at 1 pm (1300). The best speaker, chosen that day, will advance on to the Provincial level competition, which will be held Sunday, 28 February 2016.
24 Jan - 220 Sqn Effective Speaking Competition
Like everything else in the Cadet program, the more you put into it the more you will get out . . . hope to see you on 1 Nov.
